Hello everyone and welcome to my happy place, The Little White Farmhouse! I was not born a country girl. I didn't grow up on a farm and I was never raised around barnyard animals. But I have always loved the peace that I found on my grandmother's country acreage that my sister and I would visit every summer. There we could get dirty, dig in the garden, run through the woods, and do things like pick peaches and make homemade ice cream.
As I got older, I realized how precious that lifestyle really is but never thought that was really attainable with the cost of modern day living. But with a little tenacity and the freedom of "letting go" I can tell you that living more simply has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined. Since February Mark and I have turned our home into a real working farm and it has given us more rewards than we could have imagined. Now, we live our days in the sunshine surrounded by sweet smelling livestock, listening to our animals call out to us, and being amazed at what our land can provide.
So the question that I get asked the most by visitors is, how do you travel? I can tell you happily that, I don't! I have been fortunate enough that Mark and I have seen everything that we wanted to see over the years and I have discovered that the only destination that I want to go to is my own backyard. There I can experience more happiness, gratitude, laughter, and excitement than any other place in the world. My farm, my animals, and my husband are the most dearest things that I hold in my heart. I am living my most joyous life imaginable...right here in my own little white farmhouse. There is something to be said for tradition and the "old ways". When your heart is at home, you are truly at peace.
